Fortnite Is Worth How Much Now?

With Season 5 just launching, Fortnite has propelled its way to all new challenges, achievable content, and sick dance moves. But that’s not the only thing this Epic Games production has going for it. As of this morning, Fortnite just became a billion dollar franchise. What started out as a single player game that no one knew about, its Battle Royale mode skyrocketed popularity across every console platform, including mobile phones.

While the game revolves around a free-to-play system, meaning you can spend no money on it and be just as good as someone who’s dropped thousands on it, players can invest in V-Bucks that allow them to buy cosmetic upgrades. Most of these are new gliders, pickaxes, skins, and dances/emotes, but each season there’s a new battle pass that encourages its users to buy for extra content.

Once again, these purchases have NO impact whatsoever on your ability to play the game. Epic Games’ fanbase has becomes so devoted to the game thanks to (unpaid) celebrity endorsement and its simple play style: be the last one to survive out of 100 players. Plus, with ever-evolving game modes it’s no surprise the game makes over a million dollars a day. Fortnite reported their earnings in May at $318 million, with this figure growing every month with newly added users.

I may not be a Fortnite fan, and I know I’ll get a lot of hate for that, but I immensely respect the developers that created this billion dollar franchise for everyone to enjoy.
