Could the Next iPhone Have an Included Fast Charger?

No more extra trips to the Apple Store.

Fast-charging is starting to become a norm nowadays, owing to the widespread use of USB Type C in many recent gadget releases. Some of the most prominent adopters of this new technology in the mobile industry include Samsung with its Galaxy line, Huawei with its trademarked QuickCharge devices, and Xiaomi with its latest USB-C smartphones.

Not included in this list, however, is Apple with its iPhone smartphones. Even though its smartphones starting from the iPhone 8 can already use fast-charging, Apple doesn’t support this out of the box. Users have to go through the hassle themselves of buying a USB-C approved charger and a USB-C fast-charging cable, a set which can cost a pretty penny.

Thankfully, Apple users may not have to wait much longer. Previously, Mac Otakara posted that Apple may retain its old adapter, but that seems to have changed. Now, the Japanese blog claims that Apple may finally include an 18W Fast Charger and USB-C to Lightning cable in its next iPhone release. This would be a major upgrade from the current 5W USB adapter and plain Lightning cable shipped alongside the iPhone. With an 18W charger, the iPhone could theoretically charge from 1% up to 79% in just an hour.
