Comcast and Verizon Drop Fuse Due to Decreased TV Viewership

Traditional TV is dying, and Comcast and Verizon both know it. As such, they’re starting to cut channels from their networks.

It has recently been announced that the channel Fuse, where Jennifer Lopez is the Chief Creative Officer, has been cut from both Comcast and Verizon FiOS, which significantly reduces the channel’s availability nationwide. The era of traditional TV is dying and death by streaming services is an inevitability. Studies have shown that nearly 50% of young people don’t watch traditional TV. With streaming services like Netflix, and digital media players like Amazon Fire Stick or Roku TV, traditional TV cannot keep up. It’s overpriced, and it offers less than its Digital Age competitors. Even Disney was almost dropped by Verizon until last minute contract agreements were made. If Disney almost got the axe, how could any other network feel entirely safe?

Traditional TV is a sinking ship scenario, and Verizon and Comcast are likely just going to try to get as much profit as they can while they can. Fuse may be the first notable network to be dropped, but it likely won’t be the last.
