2020 has been an absolute dumpster fire overall. I know every New Year we all say “good riddance to the previous year,” but I really, genuinely cannot wait for it to stop being 2020 already. One more week. In the meantime, the holidays are here, and goodness knows we could all use something to be happy about. If you’re starving for some new games to play (or you were recently burned by a particular game that shall go unnamed), then the Steam Winter Sale is here once again to siphon the money out of your wallet in exchange for a good time.
The sale’s pretty straightforward this year; no wacky AR games or contests, just good old fashioned deals. Maybe someone at Valve realized we weren’t really in the mood for shenanigans right now. There’s a couple of little doodads to go with the sale, though: first, you can claim a free animated sticker of a bird based on a trending game. I got an Among Us imposter bird. Why birds? Why not?
Secondly, voting for this year’s Steam Awards is now open, with five candidates nominated in each of the ten categories. For each vote you cast, you’ll receive a Winter Sale trading card that you can sell or trade or whatever else your little heart desires.
