These 6 Tech Giants Are In The Hot Seat

The Senate Commerce Committee is about to have a huge trial on their hands, as six of the world’s leading technology companies are sending representatives to testify for their brand on the topic of internet privacy. In today’s modern society, the everyday consumer is getting more and more concerned with tech giants sharing their personal information to third parties for advertising purposes.

The six companies that will be testifying on September 26th, 2018 are Apple, Amazon, Google, Twitter, AT&T, and Charter Communications. The goal of the hearing is so that the SCC can get more information on the steps these companies are taking in order to protect users’ privacy and to ensure that they aren’t using consumer’s info for malicious purposes. Additionally, there are new privacy laws that are being instated in California and the European Union. Representatives from each company will get a chance to address these changes and how they will adhere to new laws.

Some of you may be asking why Facebook, one of the biggest culprits when it comes to privacy, is not attending this trial. CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared against congress in April of this year. Be sure to check out the full playlist above for more information addressing the privacy concerns these companies will be testifying against.
