Shovel Knight is the game that keeps on giving. One of the most revolutionary indie games, this classic has sold over 2 million copies and became a staple by bringing gamers back to the early eras of gaming platformers. It’s deceptively simple yet surprisingly challenging and deeply engaging. Anyone can pick up Shovel Knight and have a good time.
Now, we have release dates for even more DLC for the game. First off, King of Cards is the third and final promised single player DLC for the base game. This addition will be released on April 9th of 2019, alongside Showdown. Showdown is the game’s multiplayer venture that brings PvP combat to the experience.
All of this news comes with the announcement that a physical version of the “Treasure Trove” edition of Shovel Knight will get a physical copy released for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch next year as well. It is expected to have all the DLC bundled together, giving players the full and fascinating Shovel Knight experience.
And, if you’re a Nintendo fan, we’re getting three new Amiibos will be released for the game for collectors to pick up as well. If this is the last venture into Shovel Knight, we’re not sure, but if so, we’re hoping for a satisfying conclusion that builds on the foundation of the game while simultaneously retains its simplistic nature.
