Reddit Adds In-Comment Searching

You can search within comments on a post instead of manually scrolling.

Typically, when you’re browsing on social media platform Reddit, while you can search up individual posts on the platform’s search engine, you need to manually scroll through a thread to find certain comments. Browser find functions make things a bit easier, but not when comment threads are long enough to hide some replies. In order to make the process of finding certain comments easier, Reddit has updated their search function.

Starting today, all versions of Reddit, including desktop browsers, iOS devices, and Android devices, offer in-comment search functionality. Users can now use the usual search bar to search for words and phrases in the comments of a post instead of having to manually scroll through and expand reply chains.

“A few months ago, we released the ability to search comments across Reddit on all platforms, but that’s not all we’ve been up to,” Reddit said in their official post. “We’ve been listening to your feedback and you can now search comments within a post on desktop, iOS, and Android apps. So what does this mean? You don’t have to “cmd-f” on the post page anymore and you can search comment threads without expanding them. No more long scrolling sessions — quickly get to the parts of the conversation you’re looking for and jump in where you want.”
