Google Making a Significant Investment in AI
Google has committed to providing 25 million euros ($26.98 million) to support the development of artificial intelligence (AI) skills in Europe, aiming to empower individuals with the knowledge and abilities to leverage AI effectively.
Announced on Monday, Google’s initiative involves allocating funds to social enterprises and nonprofits, enabling them to facilitate AI training for individuals who stand to benefit the most from such programs. Additionally, the tech giant plans to conduct “growth academies” to assist businesses utilizing AI in scaling their operations. Furthermore, Google has expanded its offerings of free online AI training courses, now available in 18 languages.
Adrian Brown, Executive Director of the Centre for Public Impact, emphasized the importance of addressing existing inequalities that AI advancements may exacerbate, particularly in terms of economic security and employment. The collaboration between the Centre for Public Impact and Google aims to ensure that everyone across Europe has access to opportunities for developing AI knowledge, skills, and confidence.

This investment follows Google’s recent announcement of a $1 billion commitment to constructing a data center near London, demonstrating the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for internet services in the region. The data center, situated on a 33-acre site in Waltham Cross, signifies Google’s ongoing efforts to expand its infrastructure and technological capabilities to serve users effectively.
