The Hulk, Doom Slayer, and Izuku Midoriya are joining the game’s gigantic lineup.
Whether you play it or not, it’s undeniable that Fortnite has become one of the most profitable and ubiquitous gaming scenes of the modern age. With every major update, the game grows in scale and complexity, revamping the map, adding new items and mechanics, and of course, broadening its stable of crossover character skins.
This week, Chapter 4 of the online experience officially kicked off, shifting the paradigm once again. One new mechanic is Reality Augments, a variety of in-game buffs and changes players can earn the longer they survive in a Battle Royale. These include 22 different effects for the first batch, such as faster reloading and unlimited fuel in vehicles.
The new chapter comes with the usual myriad of new character skins in both the Battle Pass and in-game store. Most of these are original, but as we’ve come to expect, Epic Games has also secured some crossovers for the chapter. This time’s crossovers include The Hulk, The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, Doom’s Doom Slayer, and Izuku “Deku” Midoriya of My Hero Academia. Deku in particular will also come with the Detroit Smash Mythic ability.

Perhaps what Epic is most proud of is the new integration of Unreal Engine 5.1 into the game’s graphics. According to Epic, this shift will be a “generational leap in visual fidelity, bringing an unprecedented level of detail to game worlds like the Battle Royale Island.” These graphical improvements will be seen on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and cloud gaming.
