‘Persona 5 Scramble’ Strikes Japan in February

I’m runnin’ out of hearts for you guys to steal.

Back in August, Atlus announced that they would be divulging more information about their next Persona 5 spin-off, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers on October 24th. Yes, it was an announcement for an announcement. Anyway, today’s the 24th, and as promised, we got some pretty cool new info in a new trailer.

Scramble is set a few months after the end of Persona 5. The Phantom Thieves are going on a vacation around Japan for the Summer, taking in the sights and culture. As they travel, though, mysterious cases reminiscent of their previous adventure begin to crop up around the country. No one else can fix it but the Phantom Thieves, so it’s time to don those masks once again.

I’m speculating a bit here, but this game seems a little more open-ended than most Warriors-style games. You can perform high-flying acrobatics and use grappling hooks to get around arenas quickly, and there’s also downtime where you can freely explore places like Shibuya. All of the Phantom Thieves will be playable save for Futaba, who will be providing navigation and backup. There’s also a new, currently unnamed character who doesn’t seem to have a Persona, fighting with strange yo-yos instead.

There’ll be some extra DLC content such as battle music tracks from other Persona games, as well as a collector’s edition with an art book, soundtrack, and a Morgana towel. Atlus also said that there will be a livestream on November 4th with some more game info.

Persona 5 Scramble will be releasing in Japan on February 20th, 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Switch. No word on a Western release date yet, unfortunately.
