‘Monster Hunter’ Movie Set for September 2020

A few years ago, film director Paul W. S. Anderson announced that he was working at the forefront of a film series based on Capcom’s Monster Hunter series (if you’ve never played one, you can probably guess what they’re about). Recently, screenshots of the cast were released, along with a synopsis detailing the trials of a team of United Nations soldiers passing through a portal into a dimension full of gigantic reptilian terrors. Fans were… confused, to say the least, but newer screenshots have shown the cast in more traditional monster hunting garb, so if nothing else, there will at least be some proper sword-on-monster action. Probably.

Today, the film received its official release date. According to Sony Pictures, Monster Hunter will be coming to cinemas on September 4th, 2020. The film stars Milla Jovovich as Lt. Artemis, Diego Boneta, Ron Perlman, and Meagan Good as her compatriots, and Tony Jaa as a mysterious man living among the monsters. Will this movie be a massive stinker, or will it defy the odds and become an action classic? I dunno, watched a Resident Evil movie lately?
