Modern Warfare 2 Is Modern Again

Another year, another Call of Duty game released. With a tiring, first person shooter recipe, the franchise maintains its popularity solely on the excessive fanbase and the longing nostalgia of the CoD games past. Gamers can now rejoice, however, because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, one of the most popular games of the series, will now be backwards compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Every mainline Call of Duty game, aside from the original, is planned to be available on the console in some way, shape, or form. MW2 just happens to be the game available today, much to gamer’s rejoice. With Black Ops 4 on the horizon, it will be a great way to freshen up on the original, more tamed games before blasting forward into the now futuristic shooters.

IGN called Modern Warfare 2 “one of the best first person shooters out there” when it received a 9.5/10 rating on release. Ever since then the games have become more convoluted and have diverged from the set path. But no one forgets the solid storyline and sleek gameplay of a game like MW2. That’s why we must all celebrate its return, if only on Microsoft platforms.
