Amazon’s latest showcase in Seattle, Washington made the internet explode over so pretty un-expected announcements. Sure, we could have all expected a new form of the Amazon Echo to be released. However, what wasn’t on the lineup in our minds was an AmazonBasics Smart Microwave. Sure, it would be nice to talk to our kitchen appliances, but is it necessary?
The new smart microwave will pair up with your Alexa smart phone app in order to respond to your basic vocal commands. You can ask Alexa to “warm up your coffee” at the start of your day, or you can give it a time command so it heats up whatever food you want for as long as you want.
Of course, Amazon wouldn’t release a new piece of technology without integrating purchasing services for its online retail story. Your microwave will be able to sense when you’re low on products, like popcorn, and it can automatically reorder new food. Lastly, the microwave will feature a microphone button so that you don’t have to repeat “Alexa” each time you want to activate it.
