Since its release in July of 2015, the Windows 10 operating system has had more than its fair share of complaints, to say the least. However, it looks like people are finally starting to warm up to it, as it is now the most popular Windows operating system.
Windows 8 was easily the most lackluster Windows operating system, so much so that most people who don’t have Windows 10 still use Windows 7. For years, Windows 7 has been the dominant OS. But that time is finally over. At the turn of 2018, Windows 10 is shown to have 39.2% of the market share, compared to Windows 7’s 36.9% market share.
Windows 10 surpassing Windows 7 was an inevitability, as Microsoft will be discontinuing support for Windows 7 in 2020. It’s highly likely that loyal Windows 7 users may have finally accepted their favorite OS’s fate and are switching to Windows 10 to get used to it sooner rather than later.
Microsoft is going to great lengths to improve the functionality of Windows 10 going into 2019. The operating system is currently running on almost three-quarters of a billion devices, and Microsoft intends on hitting one billion. They initially projected to hit this mark in 2018, but have since extended the timeline to 2019-2020.
