There is one fact that holds true for everybody in the world, no matter what country they’re from: all people from all cultures love music. Many of us download music from the internet and use our computers to listen to a few songs or provide entertainment at a party, so getting a good set of speakers is of utmost importance to get the full benefit of the various instruments’ and vocalists’ subtleties. The sound systems that come built-in with a laptop or PC usually provide a mediocre sound experience, so it’s worth spending a bit of money to take the music to the next level.
Audyssey Media Speakers carry a hefty price tag, but owners who’ve purchased them claim that they provide excellent sound without hogging up all of the space on a computer desk. At $250, the speakers have BassXT and EQ technologies that are unsurpassed; in fact, the technology is so good that a subwoofer is totally unnecessary. A good variety of inputs and outputs feature a 3.5 mm input and include digital optical audio inputs so that media from any device can be played with terrific audio quality.
Logitech Speaker System Z523 For those who want great sound quality but find the Audyssey Media Speakers to be too expensive, one cannot go wrong with Logitech’s offering. This standard 2.1 speaker set-up features a 6.5 inch subwoofer that really pounds out the bass and the two satellites balance everything out nicely. What’s very good about this $100 system is that the inputs and controls are right there on one of the satellites: fiddling about with cables and knobs on the subwoofer is eliminated, making this set of speakers incredibly user-friendly.
Bose Companion 20 This product, like most products from the legendary audio company, looks tiny and compact but produces a sound that can easily fill a big room. According to Bose, this is the best two piece system on the market; the speakers reproduce sound naturally and the $250 price tag is well worth it.
Harman/kardon SoundSticks III If you’re one of those people who loves great sound accompanied by futuristic design with a true “wow” factor, this set is for you. $170 will give you speakers that are in the permanent collection at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, a thumping subwoofer and two satellites that feature four full-range transducers each. The SoundSticks have been on the market for over a decade and the design has remained mostly unchanged because they are simply, according to many, the best speakers on the market.
Creative Inspire S2 These speakers are a true delight for those who can’t be bothered with wires; coming in at $110, these speakers use Bluetooth to connect to your computer or phone. The USB Bluetooth transmitter included in the package will automatically stream music once it’s connected. Furthermore, the speakers look pretty good, too.
Edifier Prisma BT At $100, these speakers look like something from a science-fiction movie with their minimalist pyramid design. However, quality isn’t sacrificed for looks: the subwoofer delivers a good, solid sounding bass and both satellites feature two-way sound. For the price, the looks and sound quality cannot be beat.
The best speakers don’t necessarily have to be the most expensive; if one does want to go for ultra-high-end systems they can cost well over $500. However, for under $300 as seen here in our list, there are several options available that do the job superbly, look great, and won’t break the bank.
