Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but the diamond industry is not nature’s best friend. The lab-grown diamond is offering a more ecological and conflict-free alternative to a natural diamond. The diamond industry consists of 10% ‘above ground’ diamonds, with growing interest.
With this option labs can create diamonds that are 15-20% less in value than a natural stone, of the same size. There is also a controlled environment to create colored diamonds as well with special heat treating and chemical processes.
This industry is operating with transparency of their business to be able to trace and ensure ethical sources. The difference between the natural and lab-grown diamonds is indistinguishable, with the better flawless character in the lab-grown diamond.
In the 1940’s, De Beers started the “A diamond is forever” campaign and created a high demand for diamonds. Spreading awareness for lab-grown diamonds will hopefully have people think that this new diamond is forever.
