As always, technology comes to the rescue with some ways to make your houseplant experience a more positive one.
Happy Plant App
The Happy Plant app is a free way to get daily reminders to take care of your plants. It sends notifications about when to water them as well as tracking when you have missed a day or two. It can track multiple houseplants and it gives you the option to create time-lapses to show their growth. Let’s just hope it doesn’t show the non-growth of your plants!
SmartPlant
This app gets help from plant experts who know how to identify plants, provide you with care advice, and even identify if there is a pest problem that you may not know about. The app creates a virtual library of all of your houseplants by scanning the barcodes on their planters. From that information, you will be provided with monthly advice to take care of them.
Click and Grow Smart Garden, 3-Pod
For just under $100, this smart planter keeps a constant check on the water content of soil, the nutrients that are being absorbed by the plant, and the degree of sun exposure the plants are getting. You can fill the Click and Grow Smart Garden with water lasting up to three weeks. The smart planter will water your plants for you and the plant capsules provided are biodegradable.
Lua
For $110, you can own the sleek and cute Lua. Lua is a pot that mixes digital plant tending with Tamagotchi-style pet-sitting. The pot features a facial display on an LED screen that will indicate what the conditions of the plant are. It will identify if the plant needs to be watered or moved in or out of the sun. It takes a few months to ship, so if you are thinking of a holiday gift, this will need to be purchased ASAP.
