The rumors surrounding the next PlayStation console keep getting better and better, and if you’re a fan of the racing genre, you’re in for a treat!
‘Forza’ seems to have taken the forefront of the racing genre in recent years, but the ‘Gran Turismo’ series has been one of Sony’s most beloved franchises since the release of the first game on the original PlayStation. In fact, ‘Gran Turismo’ is the highest-selling PlayStation series of all-time. ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ may have been released in October of last year, but the developers confirmed that ‘Sport’ is not ‘Gran Turismo 7.’ This means that the ‘Gran Turismo’ series has not seen a new main release since ‘Gran Turismo 6’ was released for the PS3 five years ago. However, that will be changing soon enough.
‘Gran Turismo 7’ was confirmed to be in development by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, and now all that’s left to wonder about is when it will be released and if it will be released for the PS4 or PS5. Sony’s next console is rumored to be getting backwards-compatability, so ‘Gran Turismo 7’ being released for the PS4 first would be the best case scenario for fans.
Despite having its merits and being generally well-received, ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ was not the ideal ‘Gran Turismo’ game for most, and the heavy emphasis on online play was a turn off to a lot of players. Hopefully, ‘Gran Turismo 7’ will be a return to form for the franchise.
