The countdown will end on Monday morning.
This morning, video game developer and publisher Capcom launched a new, rather minimalistic website. Upon opening the page, you’re greeted with the word “countdown” in large font, followed by, well, a countdown. Specifically, a countdown that is set to end on February 20 at 10 PM pacific time, or February 21 at 1 AM eastern time.
What is this countdown counting down to? Nobody knows for certain, but Capcom fans on social platforms have already begun hypothesizing. One major theory is the reveal of the long-awaited Street Fighter 6, and indeed, this theory holds some water. The Capcom Pro Tour 2021 season final is scheduled to run this weekend, concurrently with the last few hours of the countdown, and since Capcom does have a tendency to make fighting game announcements during fighting game events, it would be perfectly timed.
Alternatively, the reveal could be something Resident Evil themed, in which case there are two options. First, it could be the DLC content that was teased a while back for Resident Evil Village, which we haven’t heard anything new about since its announcement. Alternatively, it could be the formal announcement of the remake of Resident Evil 4, which could be fitting, as Monday is Presidents’ Day and that game is all about rescuing the President’s daughter.
Capcom has launched a new website that is teasing an announcement for next weekend. Could it be Street Fighter 6? DLC for Resident Evil Village? We won't have long to wait to find out. https://t.co/dLAn2NST8Z pic.twitter.com/lqXayOsUW3

Of course, it’s entirely possible that it will be neither of those things, and Capcom may have a curveball in store for us. Maybe it’ll be a new Devil May Cry, or the oft-requested port of Marvel VS Capcom 2. As long as we’re dreaming, a proper revival of Darkstalkers would be nice.
