Apple’s streaming box has always been known as a top-quality option for home entertainment. But with the 2025 model on the way, many users are wondering if it’s worth upgrading. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new and if it’s really worth your money.

What’s New in 2025?

The upcoming Apple TV 4K is expected to be much faster and more powerful. Reports suggest it could use an A17 Pro, A18, or even A19 chip, which is a big jump from the A15 Bionic chip in the current model. This means smoother performance, quicker navigation, and the ability to play console-level games with ray tracing support. If you enjoy gaming through Apple Arcade, this could make a big difference.

It may also come with Apple’s custom Wi-Fi chip that supports Wi-Fi 6E or even Wi-Fi 7. This would allow faster connections and less buffering, which is great for families with lots of connected devices.

Design and Build

Don’t expect a big design change. The 2025 Apple TV 4K will likely keep its same small, black, and stylish look. It’s still fanless, so it runs quietly, and it’s compact enough to fit behind your TV without taking up space.

What Stays the Same

You’ll still get support for all major HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. That means beautiful, vivid picture quality no matter what TV you use. Dolby Atmos sound support also stays, giving you that rich, immersive audio experience.

All popular streaming apps like Netflix, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime Video will still be available. The remote keeps its premium aluminum finish and uses USB-C for charging. The tvOS interface will remain clean and ad-free, which is something many users love compared to Amazon’s Fire TV.

Pricing and Value

This is where it gets exciting. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the 2025 model might be priced under $100, which would make it more affordable than ever. The current version starts at $129, so a lower price would be a pleasant surprise. Even at the current price, though, Apple TV 4K offers strong performance, solid build quality, and years of software updates.

Should You Upgrade?

If you already have the 2022 Apple TV 4K with the A15 chip, you might not need to upgrade unless you want the latest Wi-Fi support or plan to use it for high-end gaming. But if you have an older version or want to switch to Apple’s ecosystem, the 2025 model looks like a smart buy. It’s expected to launch in late 2025, so you still have time to plan or wait for deals.
