Telecommunications encompasses more than just television.

Most people who are involved in the gaming world typically don’t think of AT&T as being a big-time player in the industry. But AT&T knows where the interest is in the world and are adding their name to the ring of gaming contenders, albeit indirectly.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which is owned by AT&T, launched Mortal Kombat 11 in April and it is finally starting to pick up the buzz that it deserves. Through the first half of 2019, Mortal Kombat was ranked as a best-selling video game.

Alphabet, Amazon, and Apple have been fighting to become more prevalent in the gaming space. It just goes to show you how difficult the market is when huge names such as Amazon and Apple are trying to become more prevalent at something. But AT&T has been quietly creating waves in the industry. Warner Bros. has been mostly known for its impact in the movie and television industry, which is a reason its gaming presence is occasionally overlooked.

Mortal Kombat has not surpassed the dominance of games like Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto, but its presence at the upcoming EVO tournament definitely points to some mass market appeal. With AT&T and Warner Bros known throughout the world of TV and movies, they can use that platform to promote their new products and really draw in the interest of gamers around the world.

Warner Bros. has also found success with its recently launched Game of Thrones mobile game and expects much of the same with its soon to be released Harry Potter game. Their gaming credibility is continuing to increase, and Warner Bros. (and by extension AT&T) expects to be competing with the top giants in the very near future.
