Verizon’s Free App Will Block Robocalls

Anything to stop those dumb calls in the middle of dinner is an improvement.

Verizon will soon be launching a free app that will block ‘robocalls,’ or calls that come from preprogrammed bots that are usually used by scammers to find people that they can trick into giving or paying them money.

Americans received approximately 47.8 billion of these calls in 2018, and Verizon is willing to step up to solve the problem. The network communications company is using new technology in its free app that will automatically stop these calls from even reaching your phone.

Currently, Verizon already offers a paid call-filtering app to smartphone users. In fact, the new app is basically just a free version of Verizon’s paid app. It will contain three features: spam detection, spam filter, and the ability to report numbers.

As for the paid app, it is available for $2.99 per month and offers several additional features that are not present in the free app, such as the ability to see caller ID, personal spam lists, personal block lists, a call risk meter, and spam lookup.
