Could new foldables and watches be around the corner?
Samsung has set the date for their next Galaxy Unpacked event: the event will be streamed live online on August 11 at 10:00 AM Eastern time. As for what will actually be shown in the event, the teaser image implies it’ll definitely have something to do with foldable devices, but beyond that, Samsung has remained mum. Of course, if there’s one thing this industry is known for, it’s its remarkably tenuous grasp on its secret information.
Alleged leaks have begun to circulate about what’s coming in the next Unpacked event. According to one Evan Blass, a known electronics snoop on Twitter, Samsung will definitely have some foldable action in the form of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. In addition to that, however, Blass is also projecting the unveiling of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, as well as the new Galaxy Buds 2. Assuming these details are true, Samsung is looking to cover pretty much all of its consumer electronic bases at this event.

Besides the broad strokes, there have also been rumblings on the processing power of some of the alleged devices, as well as potential price ranges. According to Geekbench, the Z Flip 3 is packing a Snapdragon 888 processor, as well as an impressive 8 GB of onboard RAM, not to mention 256 GB of built-in storage space. In spite of these nifty specs, though, additional rumors seem to indicate that the Z Flip 3, as well as the Z Fold 3, will actually cost less than their predecessors. Of course, “less” doesn’t necessarily mean “cheap,” as the rumored prices for both of these devices are still well over $1,000. Still, as folding phones become more popular and ubiquitous, those prices could continue to drop.
Whatever the case may be, we’ll get some concrete info on August 11.
