I wonder if Nemesis will have a hat.

About a week ago, cover art for an at-the-time unannounced remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis leaked showing Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira with the toothy specter of Nemesis looming behind them, all in the style of remake of Resident Evil 2 released at the start of this year. It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together there, but Sony decided to save us the effort anyway.

During Sony’s “State of Play” presentation on Tuesday, they officially announced a modern remake of Resident Evil 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Though the trailer for the game was in the first person, the devs have confirmed that the game will use the same over-the-shoulder view as Resident Evil 2. Not much else has been divulged about gameplay, though it was hinted that Nemesis will be an even deadlier pursuer than the Tyrant (or Mr. X, whatever you prefer to call him).

It was also revealed that Resident Evil 3 will come bundled with Capcom’s new asymmetrical multiplayer game, Resident Evil Resistance. In this game, players take the role of either one of four survivors or a single “Mastermind.” The survivors need to escape from their confines, while the Mastermind monitors them with cameras and deploys traps and monsters. The Mastermind can even take direct control of deployed monsters, including larger creatures like the Tyrant and G-Birkin.

Resident Evil 3 is slated for an all-platform release on April 3, 2020. Pre-orders are open for PS4 and Xbox One, and pre-ordering will earn you a Classic Costume Pack with Jill’s original outfit and Carlos’s original hairstyle. There will also be a collectors edition available at GameStop for $180 that features a Jill statuette, an artbook, a Raccoon City map, and a digital soundtrack.
