NotebookLM expands its learning tools with global language support for video and audio overviews

Google is making it easier than ever for people around the world to learn in the language they love. On Monday, the company announced that NotebookLM’s Video Overviews feature now supports 80 languages—including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and many more.

Video Overviews, launched just last month, let users transform their notes, PDFs, and images into short, dynamic video presentations. Until now, the feature was only available in English. With this expansion, learners, students, and professionals across the globe can now watch their summaries come to life in the language that feels most natural to them.

But that’s not all—Audio Overviews are also getting smarter. Previously, non-English audio summaries were limited to shorter snippets, with detailed versions only available in English. With the latest upgrade, users in over 80 languages can now enjoy richer, more in-depth spoken summaries. And for those who just want the highlights, the option for quick overviews is still right there.

“These updates are about meeting people where they are,” Google shared. “Whether you’re a student studying in Spanish, a researcher taking notes in German, or a professional preparing in Japanese, NotebookLM helps you learn and create in the language you’re most comfortable with.”

Starting today, the new updates are rolling out worldwide and will be available to all users over the coming week.

NotebookLM is continuing its mission to make learning more accessible and engaging—because ideas are meant to be understood everywhere, by everyone.
