Meta is giving Instagram Stories a major glow-up! The company has officially rolled out its AI-powered photo and video editing tools right inside Instagram Stories, making it easier than ever for users to transform their content with a few words.
Now, instead of relying on separate chat interactions with Meta AI, users can directly type what they want to change—and watch the magic happen. Whether you’re dreaming of adding a sunset behind you, switching your hairstyle, or turning your video into a winter wonderland, Meta’s new editing tools make creativity effortless.
The new “Restyle” menu, accessible via the paintbrush icon at the top of Instagram Stories, is where all the fun begins. Once there, you can tap options like “add,” “remove,” or “change” and simply describe what you’d like to modify. Want to “add a crown,” “change my hair to pink,” or “remove the background”? Just type it out, and Meta AI does the rest.
For users looking for quick inspiration, there are also preset effects to explore—everything from trendy style filters to accessories like sunglasses or biker jackets. You can even apply artistic transformations, such as a watercolor look for photos or special effects for videos like falling snow or flames.
While diving into these new creative tools, users should keep in mind that using Meta AI means agreeing to Meta’s AI Terms of Service. These terms allow Meta’s systems to analyze uploaded photos and videos to understand, edit, and enhance content using AI models.
This rollout is part of Meta’s ongoing effort to bring cutting-edge AI experiences to its platforms. Recently, the company was spotted testing “Write with Meta AI,” a feature that helps Instagram users craft witty comments, and launched “Vibes”—a new AI-generated video feed in the Meta AI app that’s already seeing a surge in daily activity. According to Similarweb, the app’s daily active users jumped to 2.7 million across iOS and Android as of October 17, up from just 775,000 a month prior.
To ensure a safer environment for younger users, Meta has also expanded its parental control options. Parents can now disable chats with AI characters and see what topics their teens are discussing with the Meta AI chatbot.
