The device that launched infinite smartphones.
It’s been a few years since Apple last updated its iconic iPod Touch, a device that was once one of the most popular Apple products of all time.
Although it still looks pretty much the same as before, this new model is sporting several updates that, in the opinion of many Apple fans at least, are long overdue.
The last time the iPod Touch was updated was in July 2015, and four years later, users still haven’t heard of any development in this Apple product. Unlike the iPhone, which gets updated on a yearly basis, the iPod Touch has only been updated 6 times since its initial release in 2007. That means that on average, the iPod Touch only gets updated once every two years as opposed to its more popular sibling, the iPhone.
The 7th generation iPod Touch only costs $199, as compared to the iPhone’s hefty price tags when bought brand-new. Apple’s Product Marketing VP, Greg Joswiak, is obviously proud of this accomplishment, saying, “We’re making the most affordable iOS device even better with a performance that is twice as fast as before, Group FaceTime and augmented reality starting at just $199.”
Currently, it’s the only remaining product in the iPod line since both the Shuffle and the Nano were discontinued in 2017.
