Yoshi Gets His Name

Despite being Mario’s disposable sidekick, and by sidekick we mean transportation partner, Yoshi the green dinosaur has made a quite a name for himself. His standalone games where he is the protagonist, such as Yoshi’s Wooly World and Yoshi’s Island, became staple spin-offs that showed the true, peaceful nature of Nintendo games without the developers ever sacrificing creativity.

Now, despite the latest Nintendo Direct being delayed, a leak shows us what the title of the next Yoshi-based installment could be. Taking a note out of Wooly World, where everything was felt and yarn, this new game for the Switch is rumored to be titled “Yoshi’s Crafted World.” The theme of the game revolves around traversing environments developed completely out of props, so its a fitting name for a highly anticipated game.

Yoshi’s main mechanic in this game is that he can view all of the levels from two different angles. There’s the standard view, where you have a colorful, childish background… then there’s the back of the level, which highlights everything going on behind the scenes. You can see Shy Guy holding up cardboard flowers, pushing moving platforms, and so much more when you get the alternate angle.

This biggest pro coming from Yoshi’s Crafted World is that there will be so much replay-ability for those who want to revisit their favorite levels in a new light. Expect Yoshi to waddle to your consoles in 2019.
