Volvo’s Next Big Development: A Self-Driving Sleeper

Looks like Volvo’s cooking up one more way to beat the airport: the 360c. Intended to be an alternative to short-haul flights, the 360c is a concept, autonomous vehicle containing a roughly twin bed-sized lounger, a small nightstand, and a little gap to take your shoes off in. There’s no wheel or engine; the vehicle is entirely electric.

However, the 360c does not appear to be intended for private ownership. Rather, it is intended to be part of a long-distance shuttling service that would pick passengers up at their homes and bring them all the way to their destinations.

Volvo believes that the 360c is the next step in their plight to ease the strains of daily life for their customers. The 360c is only in the concept stage right now, so it is unclear when we will see a physical prototype. If Volvo can make this happen, though, sign me the heck up. I’ll gladly sleep in a car for a little longer if it means not having to put up with airplane seats.
