Verizon and Samsung Planning 5G Phones for 2019

5G is finally upon us, and consumers can expect 5G phones to be released in early 2019. At least, If you’re a Verizon Android user.

The 5G race has been a fierce one, with every major wireless carrier making plans to put them ahead of the pack. It looks like we may have an early contender for the top spot in the 5G market, as it has been revealed that Verizon and Samsung will be releasing 5G smartphones sometime in early 2019.

Barring any unforeseen events, Verizon and Samsung’s team-up will likely result in the first set of 5G smartphones that consumers will be able to get their hands on. T-Mobile and Sprint are currently in the middle of a merger confirmation, and have already confirmed that they are focused on perfecting their current network before making the jump to 5G. Apple appears to be dead last in the 5G race, as they do not plan on releasing 5G phones until 2020. This means that competition will have more time to test the waters and get feedback from their consumers about their 5G smartphones before Apple even releases their first models. This puts Apple at a pretty significant disadvantage, and there’s no telling how badly this will affect their bottom line. If T-Mobile and Sprint’s merger goes through, the combined companies will be a far larger force to be reckoned with, and playing catch up is the last thing that Apple wants to do.

Details on the 5G smartphones from Verizon and Samsung will be revealed Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, Hawaii.
