Home TV Buying Guide

In the age of information, where we are bombarded with several thousand advertisements every day, it may be extremely difficult to buy products that one really requires. It is very easy now to be affected by the glamour and gloss of products, their sleek designs and celebrity endorsements rather than basic functionality and features. This is why going through this guide will help you in focusing on what’s really important in investing into a new TV for your home.  There are several basic factors one needs to consider in buying a TV, such as the budget, the availability, the size in your living room for the TV and the purpose of the purchase itself. If one wants to have a cinematic viewing experience through their TV, they will be directed to particular TV models such as LCD TV’s, high definition LED’s and so on. If they are to buy a TV for family viewing or for playing video games, the options will vary. The budget will also vary with the different options, thus it is better to already decide on how much you are willing to invest.

Next, you must be aware of the variety of TVs available and how prices may vary. A healthy amount of time should be spent online doing research on the different models and versions of TV’s. User reviews must be gone through for different products available in the market, as these provide quite an honest account of whether an investment was worth it or not.  Size matters in TV’s because the TV needs to be in proportion with the distance you will be sitting at to view it. If your TV set is too small and you are placed too far away, there will be no point to the purchase. The size of the viewing room must be measured beforehand because if you are opting for a traditional cathode-ray tube TV set, you will need a liberal amount of space for the back of the TV. These are also somewhat low quality, as compared to the options currently circulating the market. The resolution is not as high as those of LCD’s. These TV’s also consume a lot more energy and may not come in larger sizes after a certain extent.

Currently, almost all TV sets are flat panels, which not only take a very small amount of space but can improve the viewing experience of the customer. They cost slightly more than cathode-ray TV’s and are either LCD’s, as in, Liquid Crystal Display, or plasma TV’s  As compared to cathode-ray tube TV’s, these two types come in various sizes from small to very large for a cinematic viewing experience. However, since the former are only available at certain sizes they can consume a certain amount of energy. These are a lot bigger in comparison and might thus require a considerably larger amount of energy. In the current socially responsible environment, these TV’s might in fact be discouraged. As opposed to these, rear-projection TV’s consume the least amount of energy. These are however, not as economically viable as its counterparts. It is also dependant on a frame to hold it to the ceiling and might, in some cases, be ignored as a less stylish choice.  If one is buying online, it is always better to go through customer sales representatives about product qualities, features and accessories. The sales representatives are supposed to known every single aspect of the product they want to sell, thus one must never hesitate to call them up before making a big investment. Since there are so many economically viable options available in the market, they can be asked to recommend the one best suited to you as well.
