Twitter Improves In-App Camera

Twitter released an update yesterday to its in-app camera– the first major update since 2016.

The new update, which is currently in public beta, makes it easier for users to access the camera within Twitter. All they have to do is to swipe left while on their timelines and the camera is ready to snap photos. It even comes with easier geotagging, in case users want to share their location too. If you want to add relevant hashtags, you can so as well right after you snap your photo.

And for those who enjoy broadcasting live on Instagram and Facebook, Twitter has also implemented this option in the new update. Now, users can simply toggle the live option on the new in-app camera, making it much easier to share stories and videos happening in real time with your followers, similar to apps such as TikTok, IG Live, and Facebook Live.

Other than that, the new in-app camera also allows users to take longer videos than ever before. From 240 seconds, the camera can now take videos up to 280 seconds, or 2 minutes and 40 seconds. This is exactly the number of characters that Twitter allows for each tweet at the moment: 280 characters.
