This Robot Is Almost Too Realistic

The great thing about robotics is that, nowadays, robots can be built for any purpose. Most of them are designed to help humans in some way. For instance, certain robots make our lives easier, some are for disaster preparedness, and some help people with comfort and isolation.

Then, we have Gaumard. This company makes robots that are used to train pediatricians and nurses in infant and child diagnostics. The only problem is that they may have made their robots a little too real. Their newest development, the Hal S2225, can blink, breath, bleed, talk, cry, show emotion, and is considered the world’s most advanced pediatric patient simulator.

All creepiness aside, this new robot is going to help the medical industry get real-life practice without actually having to practice on real lives. Now, there’s a robot that can simulate all of the actions a normal child could. The goal with this new Hal robot is that practicing pediatricians will be able to diagnose, operate, and take care of children in a quicker, more efficient way.

Gaumard also makes infant robots and robots that simulate childbirth, so no occasion goes uncovered when upcoming pediatricians practice their skills. Let’s just hope none of them wake up in the middle of the night screaming…
