Terry Bogard Released for ‘Smash Ultimate’

Oh, I’m gonna do so many Buster Wolfs…

Y’know, I know Nintendo said Terry would be out in November, but they’re really hammering these characters out with abandon.

Today, November 6th, Nintendo ran a 45-minute presentation with information about the addition of Fatal Fury‘s Terry Bogard to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As with the Banjo-Kazooie presentation, it was hosted by the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, who went over Terry’s abilities in detail, as well as his accompanying stage and music tracks (of which there are a mighty 50, by the way).

In a similar vein to Ryu, Terry can use command inputs on his specials to empower them, and he also gains access to two “Super Special Moves” when his damage level becomes high enough. Terry’s stage, the King of Fighters Arena, features a breakable invisible wall on the sides that will only count KOs if it’s hit with sufficient force. The stage also features numerous cameos from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters, with the exception of Mai Shiranui since, as Sakurai puts it, Smash is a game for good boys and girls.

Aside from Terry, the version 6.0.0 update adds a few new Mii Fighter costumes with a fighting game theme, including Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown and Iori Yagami from The King of Fighters to name a couple. A new Spirit Board for Terry has been added with SNK Spirits, and adjustments have been made to the Battle Arena feature that improves arena visibility and matchmaking.

No word yet on who’s next on the docket, though whispers have been going around about the Doom Marine. Take that with a pinch of salt.
