‘Spyro Reignited Trilogy’ Could Get a Nintendo Switch Release

Is it just me, or is the Switch slowly consolidating a collection of gems of previous generations? Mario, Crash Bandicoot, and now possibly Spyro; not saying it’s a bad thing, it’s just kind of impressive how Nintendo has managed to grab so many classic licenses right under our noses.

Over the weekend, an eagle-eyed Twitter user going by “@AngrySpace” spotting something odd on GameStop’s German website: a listing for Spyro Reignited Trilogy, specifically for the Nintendo Switch. Reignited Trilogy, a remastering of the first three Spyro the Dragon games in a similar vein to Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy, originally came out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November of last year. A Switch release was never announced (though a few bread crumbs hinted at its existence), but with the Switch release of Crash, fans figured it was only a matter of time.

According to the listing spotted by @AngrySpace, the game will be releasing on Switch on August 16th this year. Since this listing began circulating, GameStop has promptly removed from the German site, and neither they nor the game’s developer, Toys For Bob, have made any statements. Take this with a pinch of salt for now, but if it’s true, the ultimate unification of late 90s/early 2000s gaming icons may soon be taking place on the Switch.
