Smart Appliances Improving Connectivity at Home

If you had said “internet-connected washing machine” in the 90s, you’d be laughed out of the room.

With the rise of smart devices and smart home appliances, consumers are slowly starting to become more open to the idea of incorporating AI-powered connectivity at home.

According to a report by Business Insider, nearly 60% of consumers now own at least one smart home device. These devices allow e-commerce companies various opportunities to market their products and services right from the consumer’s own home. And when it comes to products and services, those promoting convenience and efficiency at daily tasks prove to be the most attractive for the average consumer.

One of the most popular smart home devices is the smart speaker, which allows consumers to play music, listen to news or podcasts, and even look up questions on the net as they go about their daily chores, all without using their hands. It’s certainly a growing platform that many companies are hoping to tap into.

Unfortunately, research shows that consumers don’t regularly use their smart speakers to buy products often, which is a huge missed opportunity to e-commerce companies. In order to improve connectivity to consumers, companies are hoping to use larger smart home appliances, whose built-in smart sensors can be utilized to automate purchases and buy products directly from e-commerce companies.

Consumers are encouraged to seek convenience and efficiency above anything else, which smart appliances can definitely provide.
