The future of pizza is here and it involves robots. The French start-up company Ekim created a robotic pizza maker or pizzaiolo to solve the problem of people having less time to enjoy a meal, creating a fast and efficient service.
CEO Philippe Goldman says that during the concept phases they wanted to eliminate the problem of waiting for food and providing a consistent product. The pizza making system involves a three-armed robot that can perform several tasks at once to create a pizza faster with quality consistency.
The new pizza making robot can deliver a pizza to a customer in 30 seconds with the ability to handle up to 120 orders per hour, when the time taken by humans can only produce 40 pizzas in a hour. Ekim hopes that this robotic advance can ultimately serve as an autonomous 24/7 restaurant.
The robotic system also includes a kiosk order option to order off a menu screen. There are other robotic developments to assist in the creating of pizzas, but do not offer a full automated system like Ekim’s concept.
The Ekim robotic pizza maker is on display in France while looking for investors. The future of pizza may be pointing to robots but there are some who would prefer a handmade pie. For more on the robotic pizza maker check out the video above.
