Robotic Fish Redefines Marine Life Studies

Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a robotic fish called “SoFi” that is used to log marine life and measure pollution. This underwater, remote-controlled fish is much less disruptive than other underwater vehicles. SoFi appropriately has a fish eye lens that captures high resolution images. A diver with a Super Nintendo console can control her from up to 70 feet away. This less than four pound fish can move in all directions and travel up to 60 feet below the surface.
