Nintendo Developing ‘Dr. Mario World’ For Mobile

The timeless and ageless Dr. Mario is bringing his lab coat and stethoscope to your very own smartphones, starting this Summer 2019.

Originally released in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy, Nintendo will be making the new version, Dr. Mario World, available for both iOS and Android devices in over 60 regions in the United States and Japan this year.

The previous Dr. Mario game was Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure, released in 2015 for the 3DS handheld gaming system, so he’s certainly due for a new entry. Nintendo has not yet released any additional details about the upcoming mobile game, but it did say in a press release that Dr. Mario World will also be a puzzle game like its previous iterations.

Nintendo is also working on Mario Kart Tour, another free-to-play game that was supposed to be launched this Spring, but was pushed back to later this year. It will reportedly follow the same payment structure as Super Mario Run.

Like Super Mario Run, Dr. Mario World will also include in-app purchases, although the base app is free. There’s no exact release date as of now, but stay tuned for more updates!
