New Roomba Model Is Smarter And Cleaner

The newest Roomba model, the i7+, only has two notable new features, but what a couple of features they are. The first upgrade is actually not to the Roomba itself, but to its charging station. The new station, dubbed the “Clean Station,” still charges the Roomba like normal, but also features a vacuum chamber underneath the charging pad. When the Roomba docks, the vacuum sucks up every last speck of dirt from the Roomba’s bag into a special bag of its own.

This leaves the Roomba empty and ready for more without a single finger lifted on your part. These Clean Station bags cost $15 for a pack of three, which kind of stinks, but one of them is supposed to hold about 30 jobs worth of dirt, so I guess it balances out.

The second feature is a better on-board memory. With this new memory, the Roomba can now memorize a house’s floor-plan and, with input from the Roomba mobile app, can either avoid or prioritize certain rooms. For added fun, the app can also synchronize with Echo and Alexa, allowing you to issue the Roomba voice commands. The i7+ will begin shipping out later this month.
