Mobile Camper Revealed By BMW And The North Face

BMW’s Designworks subsidiary is doing a collaboration with outdoor apparel company The North Face to develop a new teardrop-designed lightweight camper trailer for adventure enthusiasts.

The camper trailer, which makes use of the outdoor company’s FutureLight fabric, was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in Las Vegas last Tuesday through a virtual reality experience. Visitors were able to use VR to see the camper up close in one of its intended conditions: in a snowy, mountainous terrain where the camper shined. It is made to last even in sub-zero conditions, thanks to its flawless build and design.

And speaking of design, it was actually partially inspired by BMW’s Gina Light Visionary Model, a concept that was released over a decade ago but never entered the market. The finished concept was however unveiled in 2008, as a “fabric-skinned, shape-shifting sports car.”

This particular teardrop camper is made with FutureLight, a fabric that is as futuristic as it is advanced. It’s made using The North Face’s nanospinning technology, leading into an extremely breathable fabric that remains completely waterproof and safe even in the most extreme conditions.

Unfortunately, right now the FutureLight teardrop camper trailer is nothing more than a concept at CES, but The North Face promises to introduce its Futurelight fabric into its newer products later this Fall 2019.
