“Mightier” Makes Strides In Gaming And Psychology

“Mightier” might not be a game you’ve heard of, but its definitely a game worth checking out solely for the benefit it can bring to children across the world. Combining science with video games to create new and innovative ways to solve complex problems is one of the beauties of technology. This game in particular helps kids control their anger and emotions.

During the school day, it can be easy for children to get flustered or overreact. There’s never really a “guide” on how to control emotions, its more of something we as humans have picked up on via social cues. But what about those children that struggle in identifying those cues and don’y know when is the right time to get angry? Well, that’s where “Mightier” comes in.

When playing the game, you wear a heart monitor that acts as your emotional control guage. When the bleeping red heart in the corner of the screen starts moving too fast, it knows that your body is starting to increase in heart rate as anger or frustration builds. This is when the game will force you to calm down, teach your breathing techniques, or have you solve a serene puzzle so you can regain composure. If children can apply the skills they learn in video games into real life, maybe its time the world starts developing more useful aids for both physical and emotional control.
