Microsoft and Sony May Drop New Xbox and Playstation at E3 2020

If you saw the news last year about the Playstation 5 possibly getting released in 2019, then you’re in for a huge disappointment: according to some sources, both Microsoft and Sony are planning to drop the newest iterations of their gaming consoles at next year’s E3, not this year.

In fact, Sony already announced way back in November that it’s not even joining E3 2019 at San Francisco. “PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers,” they mentioned last year during their announcement. “As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”

Similarly, Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox is also more than likely getting released next year rather than this year. The new Xbox was officially confirmed by the Xbox head himself during last year’s E3 conference. Mentions of an upgraded system and possibly artificial intelligence– perhaps Microsoft’s Cortana virtual assistant– were also included in Phil Spencer’s speech.

Analysts predict that although both consoles will get the spotlight shined on them throughout the whole year, it will take another year before they can actually be launched and released to the public.
