Is Apple Designing A 16-inch Macbook Pro?

Think your current Macbook isn’t big enough? Rumor has it that Apple is planning to go big with its newest MacBook redesigns, despite its recently released ‘mini’ versions of the Mac just last year.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, has revealed that the San Francisco-based tech company could be releasing a 16-inch MacBook Pro, in addition to a 31.6-inch 6K display, in 2019. This is according to a report by Digital Trends based on a research note picked up by MacRumors.

Kuo believes that Apple may be planning to add an “all-new” design to its 2019 MacBook lineup, with a model that could be as big as 16 inches to 16.5 inches. It’s not that big of a change compared to the current models, but it would be the first MacBook screen that’s bigger than 15 inches since the company canceled its 17-inch variant in 2012. Another possible upgrade would be the MacBook Pro getting an option for up to 32GB of RAM, which only 15-inch models can support at the moment.

Kuo also thinks that Apple may potentially release a new 6K resolution display at 31.6 inches. It may even come with a “Mini LED-like backlight” type of design, according to the analyst. If ever it turned out to be true, it would be Apple’s first external monitor since it canceled the Thunderbolt display in 2016.
