Netflix is teaming up with Telltale to bring customers a new experience. Interactive gaming is coming to Netflix, and we are pretty excited about it. Telltale currently offers the interactive gaming experience to only an Amazon platform. Titles include Minecraft: Story Mode, The Wolf Among Us and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
To take part in the interactive gaming on Netflix, all viewers need is a remote. The streaming service has confirmed that a Minecraft: Story Mode will be a five episode narrated series released in the fall. Netflix said, “We don’t plan on getting into gaming. There’s a broad spectrum of entertainment today. Games have become increasingly cinematic, but we view this as interactive storytelling on our service.”
Netflix is making it clear that interactive gaming is not a video game, rather it is an interactive story. It is directed at children therefore making the short series kid-friendly. Netflix is definitely taking a leap of faith with this one. Only time will tell if the interactive gaming series is a worthy investment.
