How Addicted Are You To Social Media?

With Facebook stocks massively declining, I’m not sure too many people are spending an excessive amount of time on that particular social media platform. Instagram, on the other hand, is a whole different story. That’s why the company wants to develop app trackers that allow you to monitor how much time you are spending on these apps daily.

The first of these new features will grant you a notification when you have reached a certain time frame with the app, allowing you to set limits for when you reach said amount of time. Another additional feature is a dashboard that shows consistence use of the app. Facebook noted that Instagram will have similar features due to the fact that Facebook bought out Instagram when it first became popular and is now their parent company.

Business Insider reported that the new features will fall under the title “Your Time On Facebook,” which will either A) help people closely monitor and limit their amount of screen time, or B) make us feel completely horrible about how much time we actually spend obsessing over what other people are posting.

Zuckerberg himself stated he wants Facebook to go back to the “old ways” of Facebook, where it was about making meaningful connections rather than having your timeline flooded with news, ads, and pointless videos. Hopefully these developments will be a step in the right direction.
