Google and Amazon to Release Wireless Headphones to Compete with AirPods

Apple has been stagnating a bit when it comes to innovation in their line of trademark products, and it looks like that’s going to come back to haunt them in 2019.

It has been over two years since the release of Apple’s AirPods, and they have received no updates since. Although still a good product, increasing technological capabilities may cause the 2-year old AirPods to leave more to be desired. That’s where Amazon and Google come into the equation.

A TF Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, recently sent a note to investors informing them that Amazon and Google are planning on releasing their own lines of wireless headphones sometime in the latter half of 2019.

Amazon may have recently partnered with Apple in a new deal that will mark the first time Apple officially sells their products on Amazon, but the two companies are still fierce competitors. Wireless headphones are the future of the market, and getting in now while Apple isn’t capitalizing on their dominance is a wise move.

There have been rumors that Apple will be releasing an upgraded version of the AirPods in the first quarter of 2019, but that remains to be seen. It is possible that Apple has moved up the timeline after it became known that their competitors plan on taking a slice of the market themselves.
