Epic Games Is Suing ‘Fortnite’ Cheaters

Epic Games has announced their intent to pursue legal action against two Fortnite YouTubers. The crime? Promoting and selling Fortnite cheating tools.

According to Epic Games’ report, YouTubers Brandon “GoldenModz” Lucas and Colton “Excentric” Conter have been showcasing external cheating programs for Fortnite on their respective YouTube channels. These programs include, among other things, aimbot apps that allow players to instantly lock onto and fire upon other players, granting an obvious unfair advantage.

Not only do they promote these tools, they have also been “licensing” them out to other users for external costs of up to several hundred dollars. Epic has deemed these actions to be breaches of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, infringing upon and damaging their intellectual property.

Lucas and Conter have been banned from playing and streaming Fortnite, with the two complaining about being unfairly targeted for something that many other YouTubers allegedly do. In addition to protecting their intellectual property, Epic wishes to use this lawsuit as a means of sending a message to all would-be cheaters that their actions will not be tolerated.
