Epic Announces Fortnite Fall Skirmish With $10 Million On The Line

Let nobody ever say that Epic Games doesn’t know how to make eye-catching events. Even if you don’t play Fortnite, you have to admit you probably double-take’d at that title.

Epic Games officially announced today that the Fall Skirmish, a massive livestreaming event for Fortnite, will be beginning very soon. No word yet on official dates, but here’s the part you care about: over the course of this six-week event, a mighty $10 million USD worth of prizes will be awarded to the competitors. This is a small, yet notable shift from the previous event, the Summer Skirmish, which featured $8 million in prizes over eight weeks.

Before you get any ideas about competing, though, it’s important to clarify that this event is invitation-only. Invites to compete online will be sent out to professional gamers, prolific streamers, and a few lucky rookies with a surplus of street cred. If you’ve got a reputation in Fortnite, keep an eye on your inbox. You just might be getting a golden ticket.

More details on dates and gamemodes and such will be coming later this week. And don’t worry, Epic says they’ve learned their lesson from the Summer Skirmish, so hopefully this one will be a little less buggy.
