Automation Rolling Out in Restaurants

A new automation concept is being tested in select restaurants across the country.

The idea, which was started by Brightloom, has recently been picked up by Pizza Hut in Los Angeles. People would be able to order food and pick it up at an automated pickup cubby in the restaurant.

The goal is to speed up service for the customer and not have to deal with any human beings whatsoever. Using the restaurant’s app, customers can place their order and pay for it online. Then, upon arrival at the restaurant, the customer would look for their cubby, which will have their name digitally displayed, and take their food to go.

Special lining is accessorized in the cubby to help keep food warm and drinks cool. Brightloom, who is also teaming up with Starbucks to make this kind of automation more of a reality, was able to convince Pizza Hut to join their force. It is not known at this time if Pizza Hut will go all in with Brightloom as they work on their end-to-end restaurant management platform, but it will at least give them a competitive edge by associating with a company that plans on changing the restaurant business forever.

Pizza Hut is expected to expand its test cubbies to other stores in the area to see if this is indeed a more productive and successful adventure. If you’re not on board with the idea just yet, don’t worry; you can still call an order in and pick it up like usual.
